PROGRAM: Practice Your Pitch

Program: 9:30 a.m. critiques: Canceled this month so everyone has time to pitch.

Pitch Practice It's that time of year again when pitching--that dreaded moment when we have to describe our novels in two or fewer breaths--is here. At the May meeting, we were lucky to have Bobbi Boes talk to us about what to include in our pitches and why.

Bobbi presented the significance of "change" in our characters and gave us a worksheet to help hone our pitches. Marianne van Gelder sent you Bobbi's two files, "pre-worksheet" and "Exercise Prep," to prepare for this meeting. Even if you are not ready to pitch, the worksheets are useful to make sure your WIP is on track for the market.

Bring your pitches to practice out loud at the June meeting. (Did I just hear fainting bodies hit the ground?) Since we have approximately 10-15 minutes at a normal pitch session, we want ample time to give everyone a chance to practice.
